APEC 기후센터(APCC) 연구본부 기후예측팀 선임연구원 김형진 박사가 11월 1일에 일본 해양연구개발기구 (JAMSTEC, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Sicnece and Technology)의 요코하마 지구과학 연구소(Yokohona Institute for Earth Sciences)가 Miyoshi Memorial Hall에서 개최하는 "International Symposia on Recent Progress in Climate Variability Study: Scale Interactions in Climate Variability" 국제 학술대회에 참석한다.
본 국제 심포지엄에서 김형진 박사는 "Advance and prospectus of APCC seasonal prediction system : Sharing climate information and technology"라는 주제로 APCC에서 제공하는 다양한 예측 정보 서비스와 기술을 소개한다. 또한 새롭게 개발된 예측 방법들과 더 향상된 오류 수정, 회귀 기반 경험적 확률 예보 등 APCC에서 수행하는 계절 기후 예측 활동을 소개할 예정이다.
또한 일본 해양연구개발기구(JAMSTEC)의 기후예측 그룹과 공동연구 가능성을 타진하여, 향후 두 기관 사이의 상호 교류 및 연구 협력 활성화 방안을 모색할 예정이다.
