BUSAN, 25 January 2017 – Synthesis of the latest model forecasts for February to July 2017 (FMAMJJ) at the APEC Climate Center (APCC), located in Busan, Korea, indicates positive temperature anomaly across the off-equatorial Pacific and Atlantic with the neutral ENSO phase. The forecast for FMA 2017 shows positive temperature anomalies are likely to prevail over the off-equatorial Pacific and Atlantic. Dry conditions are highly probable in the equatorial Pacific. The forecasts for MJJ 2017 suggest a persistent positive temperature anomaly over the off-equatorial Pacific and Atlantic. Near and below normal rainfalls are probable over the equatorial Pacific and Caribbean Sea, respectively.
Climate Information Service
APCC produces high-cost climate data and information by operating a real-time and highly-validated climate prediction system based on a multi-climate model ensemble (MME) technique. APCC also carries out research in order to enhance capacity in the monitoring and predication of weather and climate in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
