Dr. Jong Ahn Chun, a research fellow from the APEC Climate Center’s (APCC) climate change research team (Director: Chin-Seung Chung, APCC) selected to be listed in the ‘Who’s Who in the World 2016’ published by the Marquis Who’sWho Publication.
Dr. Jong Ahn Chun from APCC created the ‘multi-scale crop modeling technique’ based on local customized climate information. Dr. Chun supported the succesful establishment of the climate change response strategy on Southeast Asia’s agricultural fields, by applying this technique to the Southeast region. In recognition of this achievement, he was selected to be listed in the Who’s Who in the World 2016 publication.
Dr. Jong Ahn Chun suggested “multi-scale crop modeling*” to be used in the Southeast Asian region. For reference, “multi-scale crop modeling” is a simulation technique that appropriates only the strong aspects of the regional-scale crop model and the field**-scale crop model. The regional-scale crop model is useful when governments are establishing their climate change response strategies, and the field-scale crop model is useful when establishing farmer-customized climate change response strategies. Therefore, by using the multi-scale crop modeling technique, it became possible to establish effective strategies for governments and farmers simultaneously.
