Ms. Daeun Jeong to participate in the Winter South Asian Seasonal Climate Outlook Forum (WinSASCOF)

Ms. Daeun Jeong, a Researcher from the Climate Prediction Team will participate in the Winter South Asian Seasonal Climate Outlook Forum (WinSASCOF) from October 12 to October 18, held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Ms. Daeun Jeong is scheduled to deliver a presentation on the South-Asia 2015/16 Winter Climate Outlook by using data from the WMO Lead Centre for Long-Range Forecast Multi-Model Ensemble in the first session.
South Asian Seasonal Climate Outlook Forums (SASCOF) are organized every year before the summer monsoon season. However, South Asia also receives significant amounts of rainfall during the period between October and February. The need for holding a winter SASCOF session has been recognized in light of the recently increased awareness of the winter rain’s important role. Therefore, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) is hosting the inception session of the Winter SASCOF (WinSASCOF) and is being supported by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Regional Integrated Multi-hazard Early-warning System for Asia and Africa (RIMES).
