Dr. Seungsoo Lee jointed APCC in January 2016 as Research Fellow in Climate Change Research team. He completed his Ph.D. in Civil and Earth Resources Engineering at the Kyoto University in 2013. Through his Ph.D. research, he has developed integrated urban inundation model incorporating surface, pipe, manhole flow based on physical experiments in laboratory scale, and Interaction phenomena between surface flow and storm drain as well as between storm drain and sewer pipe have been qualified and quantified.
After got the degree, he worked at Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI) of the Kyoto University and at the University of Sheffield for 2 years as a post-doctoral researcher. His research focused on estimating urban hydrological and hydraulic effects due to artificial structures and obstacles such as buildings, road networks and manholes. At APCC, he will contribute to developing the real time inundation model which can be applied in not only urban area but also rural area using radar and climate data.
