The APEC Climate Center (APCC) signed an MOU in writing with World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) to facilitate the exchanging of information and expertise between parties.

The purpose of this MOU is to strengthen the partnership between the APCC and the GFDRR to enhance disaster resilience in countries and provide a general framework under which the parties may exchange information and expertise.

This MOU would enable a structured and sustained collaboration between the GFDRR and the APCC that would facilitate regular information exchange and coordination. It would enable the GFDRR and the World Bank to utilize the expertise of the APCC in support of its operations across a broad range of themes and portfolios.

This may include:

a) the provision of seasonal forecasts and analyses of high impact climate events in support of GFDRR and World Bank operations;

b) technical support from APCC in World Bank missions to support the development of national climate services, especially within National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs);

c) coordination of activities within countries where APCC and World Bank operate independently; and

d) aligning the partnership to contribute to poverty alleviation and reaching shared prosperity by supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the implementation of the Sendai Framework, the Paris Agreement, and other relevant international agreements.
