Climate Outlook for FMA 2012

BUSAN, 25 January 2012 – Synthesis of the latest model forecasts for February-to-April 2012 (FMA) at the APEC Climate Center (APCC), located at Busan, Korea, predicts continuing La Niña conditions, colder than normal conditions in the northern North America, and opposite conditions in most of the Eurasia and adjoining North Pacific, and southern North America. Below (above) normal rainfall is indicated in equatorial Africa (Australian continent).

APCC Climate Prediction Training Program 2011

Busan, Republic of Korea, December 9, 2011 – APCC hosted Climate Prediction Training Program 2011 from 28 November to 9 December 2011 in APCC, Busan, Republic of Korea.

27 participants were invited for the training from 15 different countries including Ethiopia, Nepal, and Iran. The participants who work for national meteorological agencies, research centers, and universities in the climate-related field came to the APCC for 2 weeks to build capacities by learning various topics such as climate prediction science, climate variability, and statistical and dynamic downscaling science as well as hands-on sessions for RegCM4.0 and CLIK.
